The first thing you want to do is make sure that your blog goes viral. You may think that you’re adding viral content to your blog by writing about trending topics, but there’s more to it than that. If you pay attention to what other blogs are doing (that actually are viral blogs), you will get a few pointers on what you should change about your own blog, such as…

The Compelling Headline

What makes you want to click on a link and read a blog post? A compelling headline. This is a concept that has been around long before the Internet was a thing. How do you think that advertisers worked back in the day when the only resources they had available were newspaper ads? They wrote headlines that would leave the customer wanting to know more. You should do the same when you write a blog post so that the person has no other choice but to click the link.

Clickbait

Whaaat, Clickbait? Yes, Another proven method of increasing blog traffic is using clickbait. Yes, it has become a dirty word among online advertisers, however, if done correctly, you can use clickbait to your advantage without tricking your target audience into visiting your site. You do that by simply backing up the click-through link with honest and truthful content.

Clickbaits are quite common in social media. The basic concept of ‘clickbait’ is to create a melodramatic title for an online article so as to manipulate people into clicking the link and reading the content. Honestly, clickbait is a smart idea for publicity but, the way it has taken over social media over bland content is quite annoying.

Here’s an example of a Clickbait headline: “Man tries to hug a wild lion’ (omg! why did he do that?)”. Now, odds are most people would click on this link to read the story. The storyline would need to lead into quality content that is congruent with the brand of the website.

Content Length-Word Count

The next tip is to make sure you have the right content length to make it viral. An online viral content publisher showed that they get the most shares with content that ranges from 3000 to 10000 words. They received more than 7.5k shares with that content compared to just under 5k shares with blogs that had less than 1000 words.

Remember the more words you have, the more opportunities you will have to add SEO (Search Engine  Optimization) keywords and phrases, backlinks, and other helpful extras that will bring more traffic to your company blog. However, many blog readers tend to zone out when they have thousands of words to read. Some appreciate shorter content that gets to the point faster. So, which is truly better?

Even though shorter posts may seem more popular, the best option is still more words. While everyone else is still writing 500-word posts, your longer and detailed blogs will stand out among your competitors. Plus, longer posts are great for organic leads which will make your content shareable and evergreen. That means that your blog content will have staying power and it can be repurposed multiple times.

Content is King

Aside from an alluring headline, clickbait, and word count, you need to have an amazing idea for your blog topic so that it will go viral on social media. To do that, you need to learn more about your target audience. What are their interests? Their age groups? What type of content could you write that will get your consumers to click the link to find out more? If you’re still unsure about content ideas, you can visit websites such as Buzzsumo or Ubersuggest to generate ideas for you.

Check out the comments on your company’s Facebook page or read up on reviews. Are there products or services that your target audience would like to see from your brand? Are there issue that they would like to resolve? Gather ideas from these resources to help give your traffic a boost.

The best thing that you can do for your company’s blog is to use what works best for your brand. If you had a surge in visitor’s months ago with a post that contained humor, adding more humor. Your blog doesn’t always need just facts, humor can help. People like to read something that’s upbeat and lighthearted occasionally, and humorous posts are more likely to be shared on social media.

Conclusion

One final thought, experiment with your blog and find out what works with your target audience and what doesn’t. This is a learning experience. You won’t always have the very best blog posts on the web, and that’s okay. Just work hard toward creating interesting content that your customers will want to share with others.

Six Savvy Ways To Market Your Website

Six Savvy Ways To Market Your Website

You want your company’s website to reach out to as many people as possible. Its primary purpose is to be a virtual advertisement that teaches visitors more about what the brand has available. If you aren’t marketing your website correctly, no one is seeing your content. And that means your website isn’t doing its job. Let’s discuss six savvy things that you can do to help market your website and boost the number of visitors you receive.

[bctt tweet=”Doing It Right: Six Fundamental Ways To Do Website Marketing” username=”sandsonlinevent”]

Search Engine Optimization:

This is the process of increasing the visibility of your website in search engine results. By optimizing keyword phrases, you can help rank your link to the top of search engine result pages such as Google or Bing. Since most people do not go beyond the first page of their search results, being at the top really matters when it comes to SEO.

There are several ways you can improve your website’s SEO. You can improve your existing content to include more keyword phrases. Add a blog to add fresh content to your site, and increase the number of backlinks or inbound links that are on your webpage. Inbound links are links that your website receives from other websites. They help to improve your online reputation.

Blogging:

The second thing on our list is blogging. Having a company blog on your website will provide you with a place to inform your target audience of everything new. And keeping consistent content on your page will help keep visitors coming back for more. The wonderful thing about blogging is that your content doesn’t always have to be about the company. It can be about something distantly related to your brand that is popular or trending right now.

PPC or Pay-Per-Click:

This is an online marketing strategy that’s been around for years, yet it’s still very effective. PPC advertising can bring in traffic to your site from search engines. You pay a fixed price for every click your ad receives. The goal is to convert the visitor to see a return on your investment.

Google Adwords uses PPC and allows you to set a budget (such as five dollars a day or a maximum of ten cents per click). You choose the keyword phrases and Google helps you get your company’s ad in front of your target audience, no matter where they may be on the web.

Facebook Ads:

On average, more than 483 million people use Facebook every day. That’s great news for companies who wish to advertise on the social media giant. Facebook ads can help you direct your ads to members of your target audience. You can choose your ads to show to people in a certain location, age demographic, or fans of other similar companies to your own. It’s a great, affordable way to bring new traffic to your website.

Retargeting Ads:

This is a method where you place a tracking cookie on your visitor’s computer. When they leave your website, they will see ads from your company, allowing them to click and come back if there were something they missed. This advertising method can help you reach visitors who leave without making a purchase, which can often be around 98% of your total visitors.

If you’ve spent any time online you’ve seen retargeting ads yourself. You may visit an online store, looking for an item to buy and then leave the website. A few minutes later while on Facebook, an ad shows up on your wall for the exact store or the exact item you were looking for. This keeps your company or the item the visitor wants, fresh in their minds. And that will increase the chances of the visitor coming back to buy the product.

YouTube:

Creating a video about your company and posting it on YouTube can help expose your brand to others in a creative and convenient way. Google will index the content and others can embed your video on their blogs to share on social media. While not everyone has a video to go viral, you can still use YouTube as a resourceful tool to help get your name out there.

YouTube also gives you the option to advertise on other videos by purchasing targeting ads which are relevant to your business. If you sell athletic apparel for example, you could purchase a targeted ad for a video featuring sports news. People interested in athletics viewing the news video will see your ad and will be more inclined to purchase something from you than someone in another demographic.
