How and Why Hashtags will help my Online Business?

How and Why Hashtags

How and Why Hashtags will help my Online Business?

Have you ever wondered how and why hashtags are used in the online arena. To be honest, when I first heard all the buzz about hashtags I really did not understand how they worked or how and why hashtags could be so powerful.

Hashtags were first originally used in programming language before becoming widely popular to social media. They can consist of a word or multi-word phrases using the (#) pound sign in front of them. Using the # symbol preceded by a word or phrase can help people search for a specific topic or keyword.

Using Hashtags have now been adopted to use across several social media platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, Google+, to more effectively categorize content and track targeted content. This helps users to find posts that interest them.

How and Why to Use Hashtags in your posts?

Using hashtags in your posts on social media can attract people that are looking for something specific. Check out Hashtags.org to see what is trending and would provide more engagement to your post. Generally, you want to use hashtags that are relevant to your topic but this is not always the case.

For example, you may feel emotional about the topic and use a hashtag like #soexcited or #thrilling. Simply put, a hashtag is an easy way for people to categorize, find and join conversations on a particular topic.

  • The How: Find the keywords that will attract readers on the topic and simply place the hash symbol (#) in front of the word or phrase. There is no need to use spaces between the words in a phrase. Often it is difficult to understand the hashtag when several words are all together, so you can capitalize the first word to solve this problem. For example: #ThrowBackThursday.
  • The Why: The internet is literally packed with some many posts all throughout social media, it is difficult to find a particular topic you are interested in reading. When hashtags are placed in a post the user can enter into the search bar using a hashtag and the topic or keyword to find what they are looking for. This helps solve the problem of having to wade through thousands upon thousands of unrelated posts.

Learning how to use hashtags is fundamental to your success on social media engagement. You can create your own hashtag to target the audience you want. For example, if your post is related to babies rather than using #parents, hone in on the target using #newmom.

Be careful not use to many hashtags in your post. According to analysis posts with nine hashtags receive the most engagement. Additionally, don’t create long hashtags with too many words. The idea is to make your tag searchable from any social media site.

Six Strategies for Gaining Instagram Followers

Instagram

As Instagram continues its meteoric rise in both monthly user base and saturation metrics, it makes sense for businesses to get on board. Statistics show that engagement rate on Instagram is much higher than either Facebook or Twitter. Not making Instagram a part of your marketing campaign is a mistake your business cannot afford to make.

With that in mind, here are a few strategies on how to grow your Instagram following:

Post Daily

Get into a regular flow when posting to Instagram, but don’t inundate your followers with content. A few times a day is probably the ideal number. Quality content combined with consistency will do more to drive up your number of followers than flooding their feeds will.

Share on a regular basis so you can discover what works best for you and your business. Provide creative, engaging content, and you’ll be rewarded with not only more supporters, but followers that are interested in your content.

Promote User Content

A great way to promote user content is to take fantastic content from other creators, and put it on your Instagram account. Be sure to give credit to the original producer of the material, though. Show off the unique and uncommon stories your users have to tell, and when you do, make sure to add hashtags that point back to your business.

Photo Contest

Photo contests are a fun way to share your brand while gathering photos from followers under a theme. Be sure to get involved in the contest yourself while sharing it across multiple platforms. But don’t be in a hurry. Allow users time to hear about the contest and participate.

Make sure the rules are clear and concise, so you avoid confusion with the contest. If you’re unsure of how to proceed, find a business to partner up and double the audience.

Understand Hashtags

Hashtags are an essential part of Instagram, and using the right hashtag can make the difference between a post that falls flat and one that shoots to the top of your followers feeds.

To determine the appropriate hashtags to use, peruse the content of those similar to your own. You can search for and record hashtags that are relevant to your brand, then use them in your content to drive traffic to your business.

Filter Selection

Instagram filters are fun, but also a little confusing. Which ones should you use to drive views and engagement? Pay attention to the responses you receive depending on the filter you use. Some tend to lead to more views, while others may contribute to a higher number of comments. Play around with them and find the ones that work best for your business.

Engage

Really engage with your followers. A list of all the greatest tips and tricks will be helpful, but they’re never going to compete with rolling up your sleeves and getting dirty on the platform. Be intentional about leaving thoughtful, engaging comments, like photos that strike you as meaningful.

Find new people to follow on a regular basis, interact with them, and respond to their questions and comments. Doing so will result in natural and organic growth for your Instagram platform.

Gaining followings on other social media networks can feel like you’re beating your head against a wall, but that doesn’t have to be the case with Instagram. Create engaging, quality content and connect with your followers.

The way you engage with your followers will have a direct impact on how your account increases. If you’re willing to help others, word will spread, and growth will occur. For additional help, you can check out Insta Lead Magic, Take a Look Now.

This lead generation system has truly helped me grow my business. Honestly the best decision I ever made.

Effective Postive Times

Effective Posting Times for Social Media

It never fails, you received a free eBook about the most effective posing times and get excited to read about the latest, and best, way to utilized Social Media posting for your business.  You hungrily tear through the information. Then re-write your marketing plan to implement this new strategy only to receive entirely different information the next day, week, month, and so on.

Choosing the Most Effective Social Media Posting Times can boost your engagement with your audience.

Fortunately, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, thanks to CoSchedule.  In their great wisdom, they have put together information from a variety of reports to provide you with the last word in Social Media Post schedules.

We learned in school that there are 4 time zones in the U.S. So, with clients spread from sea to shining sea, what are the best times to post on the various social media platforms?

To decide this, we need to take into consideration where most of these clients are living.  According to Census records, 80% of those people living in the United States are found in the Eastern and Central time zones.  It would make sense, then, to focus our schedules on time as it is followed in those locations.

Facebook

As the platform that brought social media into the spotlight and taught us a new way to communicate and market ourselves and our businesses, it’s still the first account most new businesses, and 13-year olds, open when getting started in the Social Media universe.

Best Days: Sunday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
Best Times: 9 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm

Notes:  Posting at 1 pm gets you the most shares while posting at 3 pm will get you the most clicks.

Twitter

Best Day:  Wednesday
Best Times: Noon, 3 pm, 5 pm and 6 pm

Notes: Wednesday about Noon and between 5-6 are the peak moments of an employee’s break times.  Also, Twitter users are 181% more likely to be on their account during the commute home. Hopefully, for the rest of us, this refers to carpoolers who are not in the driver’s seat.

LinkedIn

Best Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Best Times: 7-8am, Noon, and 5-6pm

Notes:  Business people are most likely to peruse LinkedIn in the morning, in the same manner many (used to) peruse the paper.  Also, even though LinkedIn is geared more for the business market, the best time to post is still before or after work.

Pinterest

Best Days: Weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
Best Times: 2 pm, 9 pm, and 2 am

Notes:  The best window for posting is Saturday nights between 8-11pm. The worst time is during business hours.

Instagram

Best Days: Monday and Thursday
Best Times: 2am, 8-9am, 5pm

Notes:  Avoid posting between 3 pm and 4 pm.  Posting a video at 9 pm can get you 34% more interactions.

Google+

Best Day:  Wednesday
Best Time: 9am, 11am, 12-1pm

Notes: 90% of people on Google+ are lurkers, people who are just looking and not wanting or perhaps not ready to engage with the content or a call to action.

Additional Notes for Each Platform

Facebook: Widely used both via mobile and stationary devices, at home and at work.

Twitter: Audience dependent, as Facebook is also. Often set up as an RSS feed and visited during commutes, breaks and other down times.

Pinterest:  Used mostly in the evenings after work and on the weekends during a viewer’s free time.

LinkedIn:  Designed for the professional world, viewers use it during work hours and in the mornings.

Google+:  Targets professionals in a similar manner to LinkedIn

Instagram: Designed for the mobile platform and therefore used at any time.

So, a special thanks goes out to CoSchedule for their tireless efforts to make scheduling social media posts across all platforms as easy as pie.  For this and more information on their services, visit them at Coschedule.com.

The Most Important 2017 Social Media Trends

Marketers have to constantly stay up on social media trends. As cumbersome and time-consuming as it may be sometimes, social media is an aspect of business that has to be paid attention to if a company wants to be successful.

The landscape of social media is constantly changing. New platforms pop up almost every day and the algorithms of existing platforms usually change just as you have gotten the hang of the first platform. social media

Staying abreast of social media trends can mean that you either have a really successful social media year or a really bad year. Here are the most important trends to look out for in 2017.

Live video content

Last year, Facebook and Twitter launched their live video content services and about half of all marketers indicated that live video would be a major part of their social media plan in 2017.

In order to make live video work for you, consider which social media platform your customers used the most frequently. The platform where you get the most engagement is where you will have the most success with live video.

When you plan a live stream, make sure that you are streaming content that your audience will care about. Some good examples are big company-wide events where you’re releasing new products or announcing new initiatives, question and answer sessions with your customers or with high-level executives, and/or product demonstrations.

It is important to not haphazardly throw together live video content. Your customers expect top-notch content and you have to deliver that with your live streams as well.

Messaging apps are the new customer service tools

If you haven’t noticed already, many of your customers reach out to you on social media before they call or email you. Social media and the messaging services attached to social media platforms have quickly become an invaluable customer service tool.

People prefer when they can chat with a customer service representative one on one and don’t have to wait on hold or be bounced around from representative to representative. This personal touch makes a big difference.

Meet your customers where they are. Start to train your customer service representatives in social media. Consider investing in a social media management tool that makes customer service easy. Once you start making this change, your customers will become happier and more responsive to your customer service efforts.

Mobile advertising will become significantly more competitive

Marketing on mobile devices shot up in the last few years. Once people started browsing the web and social media with their phones instead of their laptops or desktops, mobile ads started to become more and more important.

If you were one of the few brands that were early adopters of mobile advertising, good for you! But sadly, there’s some bad news for you in 2017. Mobile advertising is going to get increasingly more competitive as more and more brands start to move from desktop ads to mobile ads.

The mobile ad marketplace is going to get crowded fast and that is going to make it really competitive. Advertisers should be prepared to up the quality of their content and add more money to their mobile ad budget.

While Facebook and Twitter are still going to command a lot of the mobile ad space, Instagram and Snapchat are going to start to become more and more important. People are responding to ads on Instagram faster and better than was anticipated, so Instagram optimized ads are going to be important.

The bottom line with mobile advertising is, companies need to take a hard look at their mobile ad spend and the mobile optimization of their website if they are going to compete. If you don’t have a mobile-optimized site, get on it ASAP as it could take you down this year.

If you want to learn more about social media trends of 2017, take a look at my done-for-you system today.

Ways to Utilize Your Keyword Research to Boost Sales

Keyword research is a necessary part of online marketing. In fact, you may spend hours researching keywords and deciding which ones to target. You’ll use these keywords in your content, marketing material, and advertisements. Though, these aren’t the only uses for your keyword research. keyword research

You should take advantage of the time that you’ve put into keyword research. Here are a few ways to utilize your keywords to boost sales, drive traffic, and build your online reputation.

Keyword Research is a Type of Customer Research

When you perform keyword research, you’re also performing customer research. You’re finding out what your potential customers are interested in. This will give you a general idea of the types of topics that you should be discussing in your blogs and eBooks.

Looking at the terms that people use gives insight into their interests. So, not only will use these keywords in your content, you can mine these keywords for topics.

Find Content to Curate and Share on Social Media

You can use your keyword research to help with content curation. Content curation should comprise about 80% of your social media marketing. This includes articles and news from outside sources that you think your followers will enjoy.

Entering your chosen keywords into Facebook or Twitter will help cut down on the time that you spend finding curated content.

Improve Your Existing Content with New Keywords

Use your latest keyword research to update your existing content. If you have blog posts that haven’t been viewed in months, then give the posts an update. Add additional content, more information, and new details. Then, optimize your updated posts with your latest keyword research.

Find Frequently Asked Questions That You Can Answer

When you perform keyword research, pay attention to the keyword suggestions that are phrased in the form of a question. These queries show that people are searching for an answer to these questions.

Take these keyword phrases and perform your own search. You should be able to find forums, communities, and websites where people have asked these exact questions.

Offer your input and give an answer. This helps you establish yourself as a voice of authority in your field while providing another use for these keywords.

Learn How People Search for Your Products or Services

As mentioned, your keyword research is a type of customer research. One of the things that you’ll learn is how people search for your products or services. You might find that they commonly use terms that you wouldn’t normally use.

For example, if you sell running shoes, you might find that people are more likely to search for running sneakers.

By looking at the most common search terms, you gain insight into the language used by your customers. These small nuances can be useful in creating marketing material that connects and engages.

Find Ideas for Future Products or Services

During your keyword research, you may come across search terms that you haven’t thought of. This could provide ideas for future products or services.

Using running shoes as an example, you might find that people also search for shoelaces for running shoes. If you hadn’t previously sold shoelaces, you now have an idea for your next product.

The bottom line is that keyword research can be used for so much more than just optimizing your web pages and advertisements. You can perform customer research, improve your content, and develop ideas for new products or services.

Maximize your marketing potential by making better use of your keyword research. If you’d like to receive more powerful marketing tips, and a way to generate conversion-ready internet marketing prospects each month, click here to learn about my done-for-you system.

4 Ways to Offer Proof in Your Online Marketing Claims

No matter how honest you are with your marketing efforts, consumers aren’t so quick to accept your claims without proof. When you say that your product or service offers a specific benefit, consumers want some sort of evidence that backs your claims.

Including proof isn’t hard. It’s an extra step, but it can go a long way towards increasing conversion rates. From customer testimonials to verifiable statistics, learn how to offer proof in your marketing.

Customer Testimonials proof

The most used and well-known form of proof is customer testimonials. The concept is simple. You’re including actual comments from people that have actually used your products or services.

There are multiple ways to obtain these testimonials and to use them in your marketing. For obtaining comments and testimonials, consider the following options:

    • Social media comments
    • Ask for customer feedback
    • Offer free evaluations

The easiest solution is to pull social media comments. Look for positive comments and reviews about your products or services on Facebook, Twitter, and other sites.

Another option is to ask for customer feedback. Send a survey out to your customers via email and ask for their input.

Just make sure that you let them know that their comments will be used in your marketing material. You can even include a section to allow them to choose whether they want their name to be used.

Some businesses send out free products or services and ask for customer feedback. When using these evaluations, you need to mention the fact that the customers received the product for free.

Along with obtaining testimonials, there are different ways of displaying them. The methods listed above are among the easiest. But, you could also film customer testimonials.

Think of the last infomercial that you’ve seen. They always include customers on film discussing what they liked about the product or services.

You can film customer testimonials and include them on your landing pages. Though, that’ll require a little more work than the other options.

Online Reviews and Ratings

The next form of proof is similar to customer testimonials. Using online reviews and ratings from review sites, you can offer potential customers proof that people have used and enjoyed your products or services.

Adding these reviews to your landing pages or marketing material is different from customer testimonials. You would normally include a summary of these reviews and then link to the actual page containing the reviews.

Showcase Badges or Certifications

Certifications, badges, and seals can also be used to offer proof of your abilities. You’ll see these certificates at the bottom of various landing pages.

This could include BBB accreditation, awards, and other proof that builds credibility. These should always link to a page where visitors can learn more about the certificate or badge.

Link to Stats and Figures

The majority of the previous steps are aimed at showing proof of your abilities or the effectiveness of your products or services. This last step is designed to show that you know what you’re talking about.

For example, if you claim that more people now use mobile devices for browsing the web, you should link to a study or a web page that backs up this claim.

Offering proof is becoming increasingly important. It helps prospects weed out the scams. Without this simple step, you could be missing out on a portion of the marketplace.

Use these suggestions to offer proof of any claims that you make. 5 Ways to Find Content to Share on Social Media

In order to succeed with internet marketing, you need to make the most of the social media landscape. This means attracting more followers with the help of shared content.

Curated content, or found content, should comprise the majority of your social media posts. The profiles that only put out promotional posts never gain traction.

At the same time, you should try to post at least once per day, during the weekdays. This means that you need at least 5 posts per week. It can be hard to find enough relevant content to keep up this schedule, especially if you choose to post several times per day.

But, there are ways to find content and simplify this process.social media

#1 Search for Content on Twitter

The first place to look for content is Twitter. Simply scrolling through your Twitter feed and seeing what people have shared recently could give you a few ideas. You might find at least one article that you could share with your followers.

When you do find an article worth sharing, visit the actual article and retweet the initial tweet. Then, share the article with your other social media profiles, such as Facebook or Instagram.

#2 Personalize Your News Feed

The next solution for finding content is to personalize your news feed. Google and other news aggregators make it easy to add categories for specific terms. You can include a category for your niche market.

For example, if you’re involved in internet marketing, you can add an “internet marketing” category in your news feed. The news aggregator should then grab the latest news headlines related to internet marketing each day.

#3 Search a Sub-Reddit for Content

Reddit is a great source of content. There is a subreddit for everything. Find the subreddit related to your niche and scroll through the latest entries.

#4 Check Facebook for Content

Of course, Facebook is also a good place to look for content. It’s the most used social media network, with over a billion users.

Look for unconventional sources of news and content. Don’t rely on the businesses and brands that you follow. There’s a good chance that some of your followers will follow these same accounts. You don’t want to just repeat the same content to the same people.

You can use the search feature on Facebook to browse niche categories. If possible, look for content hosted on a website, instead of an individual Facebook post. Then, visit the link and share the article from the original source.

#5 Use Buzzsumo to Search for Trending Topics

The final solution for finding content is to use Buzzsumo. Test it out for free, but it requires a monthly fee after 14 days. Though, you’ll have quick access to the most shared content related to any topic.

All you need to do is enter a keyword or topic in the search bar. Buzzsumo will present you with a list of search results. They are listed in order of total shares. But, you can adjust the search criteria to fit your needs. You can limit the results to posts within the past day, past month, or longer.

The bottom line is that you need content to share with your followers. You can’t just rely on your own content unless you have the time or money to generate new content on a daily basis. Use these solutions to quickly find content and stick to your social media posting schedule.

Creating an Effective Social Media Posting Schedule

I can remember in my early days of getting started in my home business struggling with staying on task in my daily routine of productive activities. My coach suggested Creating an Effective Social Media Posting Schedule. So I started researching and monitoring when my friends where on their Social Media outlets in order to learn peoples daily routine. The frequency of your social media posts can directly impact the number of followers that you get and keep.Effective Social Media

If you post too infrequently or frequently, you’ll lose followers. You’ll also have trouble getting people to take notice of your social media accounts. For this reason, you need to come up with a schedule.

[bctt tweet=”Do You Have A Social Media Posting Schedule? ” username=”sandsonlinevent”]

A social media posting schedule takes into consideration the following factors:

  • The best time of the day to post
  •  The best day of the week
  •  The topics you should post about
  •  The percentage of promotional content

Determine the Best Time of the Day and Best Day of the Week

The best time of the day to post will vary, depending on the social media platform that you use. Also, your target audience may have different internet preferences.

Don’t forget to take the time difference into consideration. 80% of the US population are in the Eastern or Central time zones. If you’re in California and want to target the largest audience, you’ll want to plan your posts based on EST time.

Engagement tends to peak at the following times during the weekdays:

  • 9 AM EST – overall engagement
  •  1 PM EST – most shares
  •  3 PM EST – most clicks

Next, consider the best day of the week to post. Monday through Wednesday, people are less active on social media. The majority of the population is too busy getting into the work week.

By Thursday, people are looking forward to the weekend and are more likely to spend time browsing on social media.

User engagement peaks on the weekends. This goes against previous studies that showed higher engagement during the weekdays. But, trends change over time.

The bottom line is that you should post between Thursday and Sunday to increase engagement. You should also plan at least one post for 9 AM, and subsequent posts around 1 and 3 PM.

Find Topics That Your Target Audience Will Enjoy

Along with considering the time of the day and the days of the week to post, you need to consider the topics of your posts. Find topics that your target audience will enjoy.

The first place to start is with the platform that you’re using. Facebook makes it easy to share just about anything, but Instagram and Pinterest are more image-centric. This means that content with a compelling image included in the post will be more effective on these platforms.

The topics should also be related to your niche and provide real value to your readers. This could include:

  • News
  •  Tips and tutorials
  •  Advice and suggestions

Essentially, it needs to contain quality content with beneficial information. What is the benefit to the viewer to click and read your post?

You can explore the most popular topics by performing searches through each social media platform. Each of these networks, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, includes a search box. Watch for a follow up blog post that will provide a neat search tool.

Type a keyword into the search box and look at the top results. View the profiles of the original posters of the top posts. Look for posters that tend to share content related to your niche and see what topics receive the most likes, shares, and retweets.

Balance Your Promotional Content

Along with your schedule and topics, you need to balance the use of promotional content. It’s a perfectly acceptable business practice to use self-promotional posts on social media. But, if you use too many promotional posts, you’ll lose followers. Try using curiosity statements or questions to keep your audience engaged.

20% appears to be the median where engagement increases or decreases based on the frequency of promotional posts. This means you should plan one promotional post out of every five posts.

If you post once per day, this is one promotional post per week. If you post several times per day, you’ll share a promotional post every other day.

Start using a social media posting schedule to increase the effectiveness of your social media marketing efforts. Along with these suggestions, you can get more internet marketing tips and a system for generating more internet prospects by clicking here to learn about my done-for-you system.

Take some time to get to know your target audience’s interests, routines so you get the best engagement with your posts.

How to Properly Use Hashtags In Social Media Marketing

When I first starting hearing and seeing Hashtags being used, I had no idea what they where, what they do for you, literally anything about them. So I checked it out to see what all the buzz was about on social media sites such as Twitter. And I found that a word or phrase preceded by a hash or pound sign (#) and used to identify messages on a specific topic attracted people to take a look at your post.social media hashtags

Hashtags are useful for helping people discover your social media posts. Twitter was one of the first social networking sites to make good use of hashtags. But, they’re now an important part of all social networking sites, including Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.

While hashtags are useful, they can also have a negative impact on your marketing efforts. You need to be careful with how you use hashtags in your posts. So, with that in mind, you should learn how to properly use hashtags for social media marketing.

The Basics of Hashtags for Social Media

First, let’s make sure you understand what a hashtag is and isn’t. You can think of hashtags as keywords. That’s a hashtag in a nutshell. It’s a keyword or keyword phrase without any spaces and it includes the pound sign at the beginning of the phrase.

The reason that you should use hashtags is that they’re used by social media search engines. When a user performs a search, the site finds relevant posts based on hashtags. And, hashtags are now used by almost every major social media site, including:

    • Facebook
    • Twitter
    • Instagram
    • Google Plus
    • Pinterest
    • Tumblr
    • Flickr

So, you know the basics. Next, find out how to properly include hashtags in your posts.

The Correct Way to Use Hashtags

If you can remember what hashtags are used for, it should be easy to use them properly. Here’s a quick look at the correct use of hashtags:

    • Use up to 3 hashtags per post
    • Make sure they’re relevant to your post
    • Use local terms to increase local marketing

Generally, you’ll only use 2 or 3 hashtags per post. Adding too many hashtags shows that your posts don’t have a clear focus. Instagram is an exception to this rule. For example, Instagram posts with the highest engagement typically have 4 or 5 hashtags.

When choosing hashtags, make sure that they’re relevant to your post. Don’t include a hashtag simply because you think it’ll attract more users. You can take a look at trending hashtags to find examples, but don’t add them to your post unless they actually make sense in your post.

You can also use local terms to help increase local marketing. For example, when posting about an event, you can include the name of the city where the event will take place. The same applies to posts about local businesses.

The Incorrect Way to Use Hashtags

It’ll also help to learn the incorrect way to use hashtags. These are methods that you should avoid:

    • Using too many hashtags
    • Including hashtags in your message
    • Using the same hashtags every time

Remember, don’t use too many hashtags. Unless you’re using Instagram, you should only use up to 3 hashtags. Otherwise, they’re no longer helpful.

Also, don’t include hashtags in your message. Don’t use them to replace words. This makes it hard to read your message. For example, you wouldn’t say, “check out our latest #SEO #service.” Place them at the end of the message.

The final tip is to avoid using the same hashtags every time. Mix it up. Using the same hashtags will only help you continue to attract the same people. Do you use the same keywords on every single page of your website? No. So, use a variety of relevant hashtags to appeal to more people.

Here is a free site you can see what the trending Hashtags are each day. Again, make sure they are relevant to your post. Check it out!

As long as you follow these tips, hashtags should help you gain more followers and improve your social media marketing.
