  • Use a good photo of yourself, smiling and looking directly into the camera.
  • Create a banner or image to share across all platforms you intend to promote your brand.

Trust is generally low among consumers. In fact, about 32% of consumers have trust for businesses and only about 13% trust advertising. So, if people don’t trust advertisements who do they trust? Their family, friends, and co-workers.

You can take advantage of this trust. By establishing trust with your target demographic and making it a priority, you can dramatically increase referrals and word of mouth advertising.

Why should prioritize customer trust? Because it’s key to repeat business. This is one of the top factors that lead customers to either stay or leave a business.

Make Sure That You’ve Got a Quality Product or Service

Customers want quality. If you’re purchasing a pair of pants and find that they’re uncomfortable, you probably wouldn’t purchase the same brand in the future. This applies to your products or services.

It’s hard to be impartial about the quality of your own products or services. The best way to find out if they’re living up to the expectations of your customers is to get their feedback. When you send a “thank you” email following a purchase, include a link to a simple online survey.

Your sales copy impacts your conversions. But, it also impacts customer trust. Don’t use misleading claims or promises that you can’t deliver in your sales copy. If you expect customers to trust you, you need to be truthful.

Truthful sales copy is beneficial for both you and your customer. By giving honest claims, stats, and figures, you’re setting realistic expectations for your products or services.

Solve Customer Complaints As Soon As Possible

When a customer has a problem with a purchase, you should resolve the issue as soon as possible. This helps you establish a positive relationship with a customer that may otherwise take their business elsewhere and damage your online reputation.

Contact the customer as soon as you discover their complaint. Respond promptly. Use their first name, if possible. Don’t make excuses and don’t try to pass the blame onto the customer. You simply need to fix the problem in any way possible—even if this means giving a refund.

Don’t Bad Mouth Your Competition

If you’re discussing your competition, either directly to a customer or in your sales copy, don’t be disrespectful. Customers are smart. They see trash-talking as a method to make your products look better than the competition.

Instead of focusing on your competition, you should focus on your own qualities. If you can highlight the strengths of your products or services, there’s no reason to bad mouth your competition.

Always Stick to Your Promises

The final suggestion for establishing trust is to always stick to your promises. When you make a guarantee, you need to stand by it. The same is true of any claims that you include in your sales copy, promises that you use in marketing and personal guarantees that give to customers.

When you say that your product or service can deliver a specific result, you need to ensure that you can keep that promise.

Creating Quality Images to attract and compel people to click on your post can be challenging and even down right frustrating….Do you agree? Creating quality images on social media outlets or blogs can be one of the toughest parts of managing your business. Of course, there are some great free or inexpensive sites (Canva, Pexel) that can be used to create quality images but it does take creativity to compel someone to stop and click. And that’s what you want, to attract attention to your post and CLICK. You have to consider font, colors and elements to stand out and get that click. Challenging to say the least and a creative thought process. What will appeal to your target audience?

Graphics are an important part of  communication in your business. They build Brand Impact and Recognition. Effective images are a crucial part to your marketing strategies. Each social media site and website has different image size requirements. If your image looks stretched or skewed in anyway, your visitors may not be attracted and respect you as a professional. You must make an impact with an image that stands out and breaks up the feed. The goal is to make your readers stop and take notice.

To ensure your image is striking here are some things to consider:

  • Don’t use a corporate stock image
  • Do ask is it relative to my topic and audience?
  • Do make sure the image has a bold focal point
  • Do use images that are clear and easy to view
  • Be different – don’t use the same images as others in your niche

3) People Graphic Show Show Smiling Faces

Happy people looking directly at the camera is key. People are fascinated by people smiling and happy. When you look at people, don’t you like that they are looking back at you?

4) Keywords Identify the Audience and Grab Attention

 The text you use in your image must do three things:

  • Grab the attention of your audience
  • Carry the audience’s attention to the next part of your message
  • Convince the audience there is some personal benefit in your content

5) Images Must be Relevant to Your Brand and Audience

  • Are the images relevant to your Brand?
  • Do your images relate to your niche?
  • Is it obvious that viewing your image what product or service you are promoting?

Text based images can be very effective and easily shared my your audience. Having a clickable link is highly effective. Even with the powerful tools available, like Canva and Pexel, the tips listed above provide how to create powerful quality images. You can create attractive images, but if you don’t utilize the available tools, such as font style, text formatting, even borders, your image may not accomplish the goal to stand out to your audience.

Tips for Triggering an Emotional Reaction

The use of emotion in marketing goes back hundreds of years. Though, in the past hundred years, triggering an emotional reaction has become a science. Businesses have spent millions of dollars trying to learn which phrases, colors, layouts, images, and words are most likely to connect with people.emotional reaction

You don’t need to spend millions to gain these same benefits. You can learn from the research that’s already been performed.

There are 4 Primary Emotions

Science tells that there are 4 primary emotions that human beings are capable of. Though, these can be combined in various ways to create a large array of emotions. With that being said, it becomes easier to include emotional triggers in your sales copy when you focus on the 4 basic emotions:

    • Fear
    • Anger
    • Happiness
    • Sadness

Triggering Fear

Fear and surprise are used to spur action. For example, insurance companies promote the fear of not having insurance when tragedy strikes. Fear is commonly used on landing pages and in sales copy.

When writing your copy, the first section of your content should address a common fear or issue that your customers may experience. You want to start by bringing up the benefit that your product or service will resolve. Discuss the issues that your customers face, before making a pitch.

Triggering Anger

Anger is often used in a similar manner as fear. It also helps encourage people to take action. You can see this in commercials for the humane society, relief efforts, and charitable organizations that help abused pets or children. Anger then spurs people to take action.

Anger can be used in your sales copy, using a similar approach as with fear. If the pain that your customers face are likely to cause anger, then use that to your benefit. For example, “don’t you hate it when” or “isn’t it irritating when this happens”.

Triggering Happiness

When should you trigger happiness in your copy? When you want people to share your content with their friends and family. This helps generate word of mouth advertising.

The next time a commercial break comes on the television, pay attention to the commercials. You’ll definitely see plenty of examples of happiness being used as a primary motivator.

How can you make people happy with your content? By offering them relief to their pain. After you have brought up concerns in order to elicit fear or anger, you can turn the tables by discussing the benefits of your product or service. Offer customers a solution to the problems that you brought up.

Triggering Sadness

Sadness impacts the same region of the brain that is triggered by happiness. This is used to make an emotional connection with customers. They’ll feel a bond with the business.

Sadness can be difficult to work into your sales copy. But, it can be used. If you have a story that you want to tell, such as an inspirational story of what led you to start your business, you can include this in your copy.

Delivering an inspirational, motivational, or uplifting example of how you’ve transformed your life helps build the same bond that you get by triggering sadness.

While there is more to the emotion wheel than just fear, anger, happiness, and sadness, these are the four basic emotions that you should focus on. Look at other sales pitches that you see online. You’ll notice at least two of these emotions being used in almost every product landing page that you visit.

Emotion is an important part of marketing. Even if you don’t realize it, you’ve probably used emotion in your content in some form.
